General Dentistry

At Dental Care Associates, we offer all forms of dentistry including General, Cosmetic, Implant, Pediatric & Orthdontic Dentistry. General Dentistry consists of many services and not just hygiene and removing cavities. Our dentists can help you restore beauty and health to your smile by replacing old, silver fillings with tooth-colored enamel, replace missing or remove diseased teeth with partial or full dentures, create bridges to replace missing teeth and so on. Each dentist at Dental Care Associates has an area of expertise and works together as a team to satisfy the needs of all patients.

Your first visit to Dental Care Associates will include a thorough cleaning and exam by a Dental Hygienist and your Doctor, including any necessary x-rays.

After your Hygienist has completed a thorough cleaning and evaluation of your dental health, your Dentist will perform a comprehensive examination of your entire oral cavity. This includes a head and neck exam for oral disease and cancer, as well as an evaluation of the teeth and their supporting tissues. Some of our common hygienic services are listed below.

First Visit

Hygiene Services

Scaling and Root Planing
These services are performed on a few children and many adults. The goal of this treatment is to remove hard deposits of Calculus (tartar) from the teeth, and to insure that the root surfaces are smooth. It is always followed by prophylaxis (cleaning).

Periodontal Disease Evaluation
Some degree of periodontal disease (pyorrhea) is common in adult patients. It is essential to determine the extent of this disease process. Part of this evaluation comes from clinical measurements, while some of the diagnosis comes from appropriate x-rays.

Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride is very important to the health of your teeth. In the age of bottled water, children and adults alike tend to have a fluoride deficiency. Children receive fluoride in a tray through their early teens. On some occasions, it is also suggested for adults due to certain circumstances in the mouth. This serves as a very important preventive measure against tooth decay.

Panoramic X-ray
This x-ray gives an overview of the entire mouth in one picture, and allows the Doctor to diagnose problems in areas that smaller x-rays cannot view. It also provides critical information for other dontic care, as well as evaluation of impacted wisdom teeth.

Panoramic X-ray

Bitewing X-rays
These x-rays are the only means of finding decay that is developing between the teeth. They are repeated periodically based on your personal tendency toward dental decay.
